How we study God’s Word

We engage with what we believe is God’s Word, not Man’s Op-Ed. We seek to discover the difference between merely Southern manners and traditions, and lasting Biblical truth. All so that, most importantly, we may try, with God’s help, to apply God’s Word to our lives: Because biblical knowledge without application is a tragic waste.

Before we can apply God’s Word, we want to accurately understand what He is saying. Believing that both the Old and New Testaments were inspired by the Holy Spirit, we look carefully and prayerfully, in context: with historical (time setting, author), grammatical (word meanings and usage), literary (style – prose, poetry etc) and theological (what we know to be true about God) lenses.
